Chavanas Stephane
Stéphane Chavanas’ research is oriented towards disease modelling and pathophysiology of human diseases. Stéphane Chavanas Group has investigated the pathophysiology of congenital infection by human cytomegalovirus at Toulouse Purpan Physiopathology Centre (now Infinity, Toulouse Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases, France). Stéphane Chavanas’ group modelled infection of developping brain using neural stem cells derived from human embryonic stem cells. Their works have provided important insight on the molecular and cellular bases of the sequaele of infection in placenta or developing brain. Stéphane Chavanas research is now focused on human neural tissue organoids at the Toulouse NeuroImaging Centre (ToNIC, Inserm, Toulouse, France). In his talk in ECCI 2022, he will present a comprehensive and up to date review of the knowledge on pathophysiology of developing brain by human cytomegalovirus.
