Keynote Lecture Abstract
Development of a prognostic score
Nowadays, there is a lack of a consensus definition of a “symptomatic infant” with cCMV. Differences in this definition in guidelines, research projects, and clinical trials lead to difficulties in the interpretation of results. Moreover, this dichotomic definition of the severity of this disease is not supported by the complexity of the clinical manifestations. A prognostic scoring system based on clinical and image findings could help to harmonize patient evaluation and could be a better tool in risk (of long-term sequelae) assessment. However, developing a prognostic score has some difficulties that only could be overcome with multinational collaborative studies.
